Recently, Garmin smartwatches got several improvements with a new update.

Garmin continues to provide updates to the Forerunner 965 (currently $599.99 on Amazon) almost a month after releasing a release candidate build (beta version 18.12) through its beta program. This time, the company has skipped versions 18.13 and 18.14 and released beta version 18.15 for public use.

Despite the revision number jump, Garmin has only released five bug fixes. In contrast, beta version 18.12 introduces several new features, which we discussed separately in detail. For beta version 18.15, Garmin says it should address an issue that causes backlight behavior to not work in Do Not Disturb (DND) mode. The update should also resolve a crash related to attempts to update weather information using incorrect location data.

Garmin also reports that Forerunner 965 owners should no longer experience text truncation issues on the activity summary page. Elsewhere, beta version 18.15 is said to fix slow notification updates in the watch face ‘notification data field’ and various sports profile settings bugs. For more information, see Garmin’s forum post. It says you can manually download beta version 18.15 or wait for the update to arrive as part of a phased rollout process.
