How to join the Final Fantasy 14 Xbox beta

More than a decade since it appeared on PlayStation and PC, Final Fantasy 14 will eventually launch on the Xbox platform with a free beta.

If all goes well, the full Xbox release will launch in 2024, although an exact date has yet to be shared. There is no doubt in the case of the Xbox version of Final Fantasy 14 requires more work after the beta period.

A beta is expected starting Wednesday, February 21 at approximately 2 a.m. CTso we’ve put together a guide on how eager newcomers can get involved.

What to do before downloading Final Fantasy 14 Xbox beta

From Final Fantasy 14 being an MMO, you’ll want to check your Xbox’s privacy settings to make sure you can actually access the beta. If you already regularly play online games on Xbox, you can probably skip this section. If not, check out these options: Settings > Account > Privacy & online safety > Xbox privacy > View details & customization >Communication & multiplayer. Then, ensure the appropriate settings are as follows:

  • You can participate in multiplayer games—Allowed
  • You can participate in multi-network play—Allowed
  • Others can communicate by voice, text, or invitation—Everyone
  • You can communicate outside of Xbox with voice and text—Everyone

You should also check “See details & customize menu” and set “You can see and upload community creations” to “Everyone”.

How to download Final Fantasy 14 Xbox beta

This is the easy part. Just search Final Fantasy 14 on the Microsoft Store and find the game’s product page. From there, you will want to select the “…” option and it will bring up another option to download the beta. It will be labeled as Final Fantasy 14 Free Trial. Once installed, you can launch it when available and the on-screen instructions will guide you through the rest.

Do you need Xbox Game Pass to play games? Final Fantasy 14 Xbox beta?

No, the beta/trial is free no Xbox Game Pass subscription required. But you’ll need one when the full game launches. It doesn’t matter which level you sign up for (Core or Ultimate), but this is also a top priority Final Fantasy 14its subscription fee, with the cheapest being $10.99 per month.
