How to fix server not showing error in Enshrouded

Cover was released as Early Access on January 24. Since the release is not official, it means that the developer is expected to come up with some bugs and improve the game, e.g. like your server is not showing up.

This error can occur at any time with no apparent cause. But it can also appear after you download an update. It will prevent you from playing and can persist even after restarting the game and device of your choice.

If this is your case then here are some fixes you can try to resolve the issue and get access to Cover server.

Some players have reported that the server is not showing errors after downloading the update, which may cause errors in the game’s files. They explained that tinkering with them fixed the problem for them. Here’s what you can try.

Check the game’s servers

Before trying any fixes yourself, the best way to start is to check the game’s servers. Sometimes the problem is on the developer’s side, and if that’s the case, there’s no point in trying anything yourself: all you have to do is wait for the server to come back up.

You can check if the server is having problems on the developer’s official X account (Twitter) for the game or the developer’s dedicated Discord server.

Launch the game without Steam online

One of the fixes you can try before reinstalling or other methods that will take more time and effort is to try going offline on Steam and launching the game. Here are the steps to follow:

  • Go to the game’s files. You can find this folder by going to your game settings.
  • Close Steam and log out.
  • Find the enshrouded_server.exe file.
  • Open it as Administrator.

This will work if Steam blocks your access to the game servers for any reason.

Add your server IP to your Steam favorites

Your IP may also be blocked by Steam for unknown reasons. You can bypass that by adding the server’s IP to favorites, which may fix the problem. Here are the steps to follow:

  • Open your Steam client.
  • Go to the View tab.
  • Click Game Server.
  • Select the Favorites tab.
  • Click the plus sign at the bottom of the window and add your IP.

Reinstall the game

If the above fixes don’t work, you can reinstall the game. Since the server not showing error often seems to be related to some error in the file, you’re more likely to fix it this way.

Open a support ticket

If all the fixes you’ve tried don’t work, you can open a support ticket with the developer to try to fix the problem for you. Don’t forget to mention all the troubleshooting steps you went through in advance to get the right advice for you. You may have a better chance of getting a response by asking a question on Discord.
